Not trying to be an @sshat because it sucks when anyone passes... but what else was afflicting your friend? Or was he one of the very few who actually had nothing wrong with them except catching COVID?

Was his immune system compromised by obesity, diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, advanced age etc? "Healthy people" under the age of 80 simply aren't dying from COVID in any significant numbers.
