(cue The Idiot and his posse to jump in with, "poor kid, how will he recover from this. YOU, a mentor, poor kid doesn't have a chance.")
Tested positive for the china virus. Asymptomatic, totally.
His mother wouldn't take him in, she may catch the sniffles.
Likewise his uncle.
His mother would not move in with her brother (the uncle) because she is "too proud" to sleep on the floor of her brother's home.
The school would not allow him to stay on campus.
We expected this all along and planned to have him with us. Our home is large enough to offer appropriate spacing and distancing.
In anticipation of his arrival we read on the procedures to follow. They included confining him to one room plus a bathroom if attached or to provide bags for human waste.
The information suggested plastic coverings on the floor, duct taping plastic over the vents, and no personal contact.
I called my doctor to see if there were other things to consider and whether all that was in the article were necessary.
His first response was, "Why in the hell are they sending him home?" He said the plastic covering on the floor was ridiculous (my word) confining him to a single room was cruel (his word) and that he should be allowed outside and have the run of as much of the house as could be used without having others around. He said if entry and egress points are for him only, there is no need to keep him from coming and going.
He said the virus lives on surfaces that need to be cleaned thoroughly, but the virus can only survive on those surfaces for bout 90 minutes.
Anyway, he got a better offer. A friend of his, a dish from carolina, also tested positive and he was invited to stay with her family.
He can come or go as he wishes, face coverings are required and distancing is necessary. But it's not a plastic enclosed prison.
He has remained asymptomatic for the past five days, as has his friend.
The number of cases is up. The sky is falling. We are all gonna die.
But most cases are asymptomatic.
No matter, let's panic.
