What’s wrong with paying the dad to get the players?

kU and others have been doing that for years. It didn’t work because they ended up with injuries so Mizzou didn’t get the benefit.
If you want more top 50 players then we need more bagmen.
I’m not a big fan of just using offensive efficiency ratings by themselves it’s easy for them to be flawed. Combine it with several other stats and you get somewhere, for evaluating players.
Braun is the best athlete on the team, if he’s improved his skills and looks to score some I think he can be good. Also think Kobe can be good. Lots of guys that weren’t great as freshmen become very good players as juniors and seniors.
