Why do you suppose exit polls are no longer allowed before ALL polls are closed in ALL time zones?

Why do candidates place more trust in their internal polls rather than the published polls?

Why is there such controversy and disagreement over sampling methodology, sampling demographics, whether the poll is sampling adults, registered voters or likely voters.

More importantly, why do some people absolutely KNOW that Rasmussen is a biased pollster and implicitly trust anything published by WaPo, NYT and/or NBC (and vice versa)?
