fear card needed to get the citizens to listen, then, predictably, never admitted their errors, rather hid them and used social and traditional media to shame anyone who dared challenge the gvmt.

This isn't new tricks for gvmt.

No "conspiracy" needed, this is gvmt's m.o. and the media, long ago some feeble kind of watchdog, is 100% complicit now due to partisanship.
