Think about it... their ratings and viability are entirely dependent on DJT now. He's the star of their show, and they can't afford to lose him — so they needed a plan to ensure his reelection, while still being able to relentlessly bash and criticize him.
(On second thought, I'm probably giving them too much credit. Such a diabolical scheme would require a level of intelligence that's way beyond the liberal yuppies running the MSM networks.)
