130,000 people. That's simply not true and it's either incredibly lazy or incredibly disingenuous.
130,000 people have indeed died. Debating that is silly. Those deaths all really suck. But 130,000 people were not killed by the Covid 19 virus. The majority of those people were killed by bad policy. The next cohort died of any number of causes, Covid potentially being a contributor. And then a 3rd, much smaller number, have actually died as a direct result of Covid.
Yet everyone ignores all reason and logic and actual data and instead shrieks at the sky as they helplessly claim victim to a boogyman who simply isn't there.
The reason we can't return to a true normal is because too many people are paralyzed by irrational fear. People are all worked up over who is wearing a mask and who isn't. It's silly and it's the wrong topic to debate. People should be worked up over who is forcing covid patients back into nursing homes. People should be worked up over public policy that does more long-term harm to individuals and families than the virus ever will. People should be worked up over a lot of things. But getting worked up over whether some lady in North Dakota is wearing a mask or not and how that somehow translates into whether society deserves sports???
That's beyond stupid. But here we are, nonetheless. Terrified for no reason.
