my ancestors were effectively exiled after one group of power hungry elites overthrew another group of power hungry elites (the group that my ancestors farmed for).

They were forced to leave the country, (they didn't have land, so that couldn't have been stripped), and find their own way with little to no resources.

Some emigrated from Scotland to France, while others emigrated to the US. With nothing.

Only one of our traditions (tartan) was taken and used by the mainstream whilst the others were mostly discarded outside of the land that we were exiled from.

Nobody even gave a **** enough to name a sports team after us.
