No one will doubt that the incidence has gone up at a statistical significant rate. But, so what? The salient parameter should be hospitalizations are increasing SIGNIFICANTLY STATISTICALLY at at least the .05 or better level. To report hospitalizations are increasing is meaningless, as an increase could be from 17 to 18. Again, so what?
When numbers are reported, I think many of us believe that the vast majprity are asymptomatic or their illness course, though unpleasant, doesn't result in stay in an ICU or death. Report the numbers that require a higher intervention level. To report that ICU's in certain densely populated areas are nearing capacity, is again meaningless and simply fear mongoring.
Obviously, this is a contagious, widely held virus for the general population. I'm at high risk, but it's just audacious for others to HAVE to protect me. It's my choice to go out, which I am.
I have friends who own prominent businesses/properties here and they are suffering. Why not offer this alternative? Open businesses, keep a social distance, mask up when appropriate, and until the rate of seriously ill people from COVID-19 escalates, carry on. Re-evaluate along the way.
We are seeing the benefits in living in less dense areas. That was our choice. Don't punish us because our living situations in our less dense areas(Ones without meat packing) is more preferable.
The overreaction to this continues to be appaling still at this point. Maybe this will change, and the severity and outreach of the virus will escalate. Until, then it's your choice to get out and be prudent.Follow the guidelines ad let's get through this.
