more for the MLB than they think.

As the MLB is looking to cut the minor league system drastically, it could impact their fan bases but more importantly the baseball community as a whole and youth sports.

Imagine if the Omaha Stormchasers, Springfield Cardinals, or Memphis Redbirds no longer existed (as affiliates of MLB teams).

You wouldn't have kids growing up going to those games, building a lifelong fanbase for not only the team, but for the game of baseball itself.

In Oklahoma City, the OKC Dodgers partnered with the OKC Parks Dept to run their youth recreation baseball leagues because the programs were struggling to get enough participants. Their partnership was a huge success and more kids are playing baseball in OKC now.

Furthermore, Minor League Baseball continues to experience an increase in attendance (welcoming 41m fans across MiLB teams in 2019) - the 15th consecutive season MiLB drew more than 40m fans.

All while MLB attendance falls, dramatically in the past 10 years.

I think they have a very short-sided view of their decision to cut teams.
