DLB announced accepting his nomination on August 27 in Jacksonville, on the 60 anniversary of "Ax Handle Saturday", when a group of 200 middle aged and older white men gathered in Hemming Park in Jacksonville armed with baseball bats and ax handles, attacked protesters conducting sit-ins, and then started attacking all African-Americans in sight.
