Have you ever noticed where most major Army bases

are in the lower 48?
And there are only two in what used to be the union and one of them still guards against Canada. Most of the other ones are still there because they were set up then those states were the western edge of the US.
Do you know why they were named after those people?
Also, saying it was fought over slavery over simplifies the war. The south seceded because of Slavery, the North Invaded to keep the nation together after they realized there would be no political end after Fort Sumpter. There was way more going on then people wanting slaves.
One thing The Civil War was not fought over was to end slavery.
