The world doesn't/hasn't stopped for a lot of contagious diseases. Also, if my grandparent died of a contagious disease, I wouldn't demand that the world stopped and for people to lose their jobs/businesses either. The original post/sentiment from b-boy bouiebaisse is worse than what Berenson said, but I guess the Twitter majority rules when it comes to assessing that?
Also, Berenson is far from my favorite reporter. However, right now, he is one of the very few reporters who is actually asking questions and digging into the reasoning and effectiveness of the shutdowns. You'll see from recent posts by him that reporters nationwide have been restricted from making reports that challenge the shutdown orders. Thus, the news is pretty much in lockstep with the orders and fooling people, like yourself and the Twitter mob, to be once again controlled by the message.
