here.
Paying people not to work is no way to run an economy or a country.
My wife's company laid people off, probably because of the other idiotic government law that was going to make them pay workers themselves for not working due to the COVID-19 crisis. Their business is booming as they do telephone equipment systems and everyone is buying tons of headsets & phone systems to work from home... but her boss was freaking over the mandates and what's coming down the pike. He's trying to secure government credit lines & cut everyone's pay across the board. The owners have allegedly stopped their own salaries, hoarding cash. They're afraid customers won't be able to pay. I told my wife they should just stop selling on credit, at least for new clients for awhile if they're that worried about it.
One of the people laid off that worked for her said she won't even bother to look for work until the government money stops. She likes the option of staying home with the kids and collecting the dough & not having to pay for daycare. No expenses for driving back and forth to work every day either.
