tourney team. They weren't making the NCAA tourney in Kim's first year. But if Kim had retained all of the players he ran off, he would have had a team that was capable of making a tourney by his 3rd year.
Haith was looking at a down year in his 4th year. It would not have been as bad as Kim did in his first year though. Haith correctly saw that he was going to be fired if he had a down year so he bolted. Haith left a solid base for a program.
He had four 4-star players that were freshmen or sophomores in Kim's first year. If Kim had actually retained them and built on top of that core, he would have been a lot better than he ended up. Kim's 3rd year could have had a lineup of consisting of Haith's players and some of his if had not been terrible:
PG: Wes Clark
SG: Namon Wright
SF: Jordan Barnett
PF: Kevin Puryear
C: J3
Bench: Teki, Jakeenan Gant, Terrence Phillips, Rosburg
Kim just completely mismanaged the program. It's revisionist history to say it was cratered when Kim came in.
