Never mind that tens of thousands of Americans bled and died to rid the world of Nazi tyranny and Japanese oppression. Never mind that America is the most generous country the world has ever known, always coming to the rescue of nations hammered by earthquakes, famine and other natural and man-made disasters. Never mind that people all over the world yearn to come to America, where immigrants have at least as good a chance to strike it rich than native-born Americans.
