but systematically destroy pretty much everything else in the country with the exception of a couple of industries. The mental health and economic impacts would be an absolute disaster. Rioting and crime would eventually ramp up to the point where martial law would be put in place, and in turn make things worse. Just letting the virus go and killing 20 million if you believe that number wouldn't be as destructive as shutting down the nation for the better part of a year.
