3 MILLION are injured every year just in the US. if you drive you clearly have no respect for human life. Because even if just ONE life can be saved it's worth it.
or maybe you know we have licensing requirements and speed limits and drunk driving laws and seatbelt laws (btw I recognize there are valid arguments against even these restrictions) to try and limit those deaths which most people find a reasonable tradeoff instead of banning driving altogether.
so in the virus' instance, nobody is suggesting we do nothing. suggesting social distancing is fine. Sounds reasonable and we should all work toward that. mandating it is another story. but maybe we should have focused on isolating those who are at high risk rather than shutting down everything and destroying jobs and the economy in the process.
And even at that, it's wildly inconsistent. You can stand in line to order carryout but you cant sit down and eat. you can fly on an airplane but you can't sit down in McD's for a burger. You can mill around and stand in line with hundreds of other people at Walmart or the grocery store but I can't go sit down at my local BBQ joint.
it makes no sense and this is just my opinion but i think the damage done to the economy outweighs the threat of the virus; which at this point is a rounding error in seasonal flu deaths.
