The issue is not what has happened, but what will happen if nothing is done.
The world wide mortality according to the John Hopkins numbers is over 10%, i.e. 10k of deaths and 86k of curedcases. That’s 10k deaths in 96k of completed cases with about 100-150k of pending cases, cases that be cures or deaths.
If the spread is not minimized. the virus could infect millions over the next three to six months. What will the death total be if it infects 10, 20 or 50 million.
This is easily the biggest crisis since WWII. The economic impact of the measures being put in place to avoid the worst case will be substantial. This is not a situation in which businesses and citizens have behaved badly or foolishly. It is a legitimate function of government to seek to mitigate the resulting damage.
Bluntly, I find your post to be nothing more than cheap political gamesmanship, but then I suppose I should not have expected anything more from the board’s leading political hack.
