charged with lying to LE when there is no underlying crime?

This is usually part of a conspiracy charge. Either you lied about your part in a crime or you lied to protect someone else who committed a crime. Have you ever heard of someone being charged with lying to LE without proof of some other crime being committed that they were covering for?
