Don't know if his ideas work but if AI and robotics keep advancing we will be in a star trek like world were you only work if you want to. Basics will have to be provided to everyone. I bet suicide rates will rise and people will be unhappy even if they have everything they want. I think people need a purpose to be happy. Most wont have any purpose past turning into jabba the hut on the couch.
