We should go all in on Lane. When I say all in I’m not talking about Urban Meyer money all in. Although if I was Mizzou i’d Call Urban Meyer. Why not? My pitch is an easy one, cement your legacy as the best coach ever by winning a national championship at a school that has never won one.
Skipping over to Lane... look the guy gets a ton of national press at Florida Atlantic Who has ever heard of this school until Lane went there?
Mizzou needs to go all out to land Lane because we need that kind of personality to bring national attention to the program to attract 4 and 5 star players.
Here is why Lane should want the Mizzou job over Arky or Florida State
1). Mizzou unfortunately seems happy if they just reach bowl games. Florida State wants instant national championships. In other words less pressure to build the program at Mizzou.
2). Arkansas and Florida State seem to fire their coaches quickly. Both programs are in a frenzy to bail if you don’t fine instant success.
3). Recruiting: Mizzou is the only D1 program in the state. In Missouri. You can recruit Illinois, Kansas, basically the entire Midwest. Missouri touches more states than any other state in AMerica. Build up the hype of Mizzou and watch top players in the Midwest want to play at Mizzou. Florida State competes for players with multiple schools.
4). Mizzou just built a brand new football only complex
5). Mizzou doesn’t have to play Clemson, or Alabama, Auburn, or LSU every single year. Although Georgia is a powerhouse, they’re not on the level of Alabama an annual opponent of Arkansas. Also the bottom feeders like Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina are worse than Ole Miss, Miss State, Texas AM. Furthermore Texas AM is a recruiting POWER HOUSE right now. They just might climb into the national powerhouse level soon...
6). Unlike say Arkansas, Missouri has two major cities, several professional sports teams, more things to do, and again two major cities to recruit out of. Seriously who wants to move to Arkansas???
C’mon Lane lets get it done.
