That's is not correct. They owe him his base pay which is +/- $600K (I have also seen this number reported at $425K) for the length of the contract. It is also offset by any earnings and he is required to actively seek gainful employment. If he lands a DC gig at a P5 school, they will owe him next to nothing. If he lands a HC job at a non P5, they won't owe him much. Buyout is paid annually so it is of no concern.
