I don't think it depends on whether he gets convicted in the senate, but how much damage they will do to him vs how much damage they will do to themselves.

Not sure what their calculus is. But if they feel that regardless of the vote in the senate, if trump is prez for four more years but is badly damaged...they may go there.

Too early to tell, imo.
