They struck a deal with the legitimate ruler of Syria, Assad. This is great news as Assad has a history of protecting minorities in his country such as Christians, Jews, Druids, Shia Muslims, and Alawites. As long as the US doesn’t start another ISIS group to try and overthrow Assad they should be safe.
