get paid, go play pro ball somewhere. there's nothing stopping a baseball prospect from entering the MLB draft straight from high school. basketball prospects can enter the G League right our of HS or they can play overseas. kids who want to play pro football can enter the CFL straight out of HS. pro soccer players are typically signed to contracts well before they leave HS. those who aren't can play in any number of pro clubs. there are plenty of opportunities to go pro in golf, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, track & field without going through college. wrestlers don't need to go through college to join the UFC or WWE or whatever they do. hockey players don't need to go through college before turning pro.
every one of these athletes has the opportunity to go pro without going through college.
forcing colleges to pay people who willingly sign up to work for free just because they generate revenue is dumb.
