I love dancers and cheerleaders. They’re awesome for a variety of reasons. But the truth is, there are many many many that would be happy to step in for someone that wants to step out. And since it’s more of a “team” oriented display - meaning there are no “stars” like you might see in a solo performance or on broadway, Their sideline and halftime performances are essentially all in unison, so everyone is easily replaceable and no one would ever notice.
