someone who has been consistently stupid and crazy for a prolonged period of time, acts abundantly stupid and crazy and has all kinds of bad things happen to them, and then people conclude they were masterminding the whole thing because nobody could actually be that stupid and crazy.

Except then they will go on to continue acting stupid and crazy.
