Interestingly enough, the season Max Collings was named 1st team All American (his junior year) he was actually ruled academically ineligible for the first semester and didn't play. Without him, MU started 1-6. Then he regained eligibility and MU won 8 of their final 11 games.

College Humor magazine was a legit designation. From 1929 to 1936 to be considered a consensus All American you had to be selected by College Humor among others.

Collings also played 2 seasons of football for MU. His first year of basketball was MU's first ever Big 6 championship season and the team earned a #7 end of year ranking in the Premo-Porietta polls.
