Again, this would entail prison guards at fear of their own liability, loss of job or criminal charges if found out - or the conspiracy goes up the chain. So more people know and could tell the tale and what in the world would keep them silent. And the question becomes Who Benefits?

Let's let this guy kill himself?

Why do that ? Again it sounds ludicrous. Perhaps nothing more than a weak systems, a weak "suicide watch" if in fact he WAS on suicide watch. My understanding of such an alert involves a de rigeur removal from the cell of any means of harming oneself.
