To me it’s ridiculous they didn’t get Wheeler

Supposedly the Mets wanted Bader, or O’Neill as the main trade chip.
Get Wheeler on the team, and he’s immediately one of the top 3 starters, and possibly the best on the staff. Certainly an area of need in a good lefty starter. He’d also be a good candidate for a contract extension.
Dylan Carlson is likely equal to or better than either of the outfielders the Mets wanted. So it’s an area with a surplus of talent.
