Imagine if instead of wasting money on unnecessary extravagances, they actually took $5 million a year and paid the players like $50k a year. The players are who fans are coming to see and who are generating the revenue. I'm betting that every player on that team would take $50k a year and would gladly stay in the current facilities. But of course, the AD doesn't want to do that because it would end up cutting into their salaries if they had to pay the players a fair portion of what they help the university generate. So instead they'll waste money on facilities until the cows come home.
