Marcus Denmon took to Twitter and clarified the situation between him and Panathinaikos regarding his contract.
“For clarity, I’d like to say I love the fans and organization of Panathinaikos. I am grateful for my time in Athens with PAO.
This year was an option in my contract for the team to send a letter by June 19 if they wanted to keep me. After that date passed and no letter I became a free agent,” the American guard tweeted.
Denmon has agreed to an one-year deal with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls and will play for the Chinese team for another season.
There was some controversy as to whether he could do that.

Via an official press release, Panathinaikos addressed the situation regarding the contract of guard Marcus Denmon.
Here is what the chairman of the club, Manos Papadopoulos said:
“Marcus Denmon did not opt-out from his contract with Panathinaikos OPAP, therefore he is a member of our team.
If there are any disagreements or differences of opinion in such a clear issue, FIBA always provides the way towards a solution.
It is the athlete’s undeniable right to seek his release from any team, provided of course that he negotiates and agrees with his team.
Panathinaikos never before wanted to keep any athlete that does not want to be part of the team.”
On Monday, the “Greens” announced the return of Denmon to the team. However, a few minutes later, both the player himself and his agent, Misko Raznatovic, denied that there is any agreement between Denmon and Panathinaikos.
