based on a quick read:
First, it's a neocon screed:
"Trump may seem an unlikely representative for this American rediscovery of its global purpose. His critics condemn his strongman tendencies and his closeness to autocrats like Xi, Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un. However, his record also includes supporting efforts to democratically replace Venezuelan dictator Maduro, his targeting of the unfair trade practices spawned by Chinese state leaders and his opposition to Iran’s mullahs and their Revolutionary Guard Corps."
Our Founders would be shocked to learn the "global purpose" of the US was to export democracy, especially when the Founders rightfully formed a Republic, not a Democracy, and expressly wanted to avoid foreign entanglements.
Second, how is Trump "close" to Xi? Trump is putting maximum pressure on China with his tariffs. In fact, he's identified China as the number one global enemy, economic and otherwise, of the US. China knows this.
Third, this buys the canard that Trump is close to Putin. Ridiculous. Putin was in the can for Hillary- they had already done business together and he knew she would be anti-domestic energy production. Has it helped or hurt Russia to have America increase domestic energy production?
Finally: which are these democracies the article is championing. The US? No, we are a Constitutional Republic. Europe? No, hardly, social democrats governed from Brussels (at least until Brexit happens, if it does).
