becomes moot, for two separate reasons.

They could decide that, it being a matter which might escape or elude review again, at some point in the future, it is appropriate to decide the matter now.

They might also decide they need to decide the matter because of the lower court's ruling; which could mislead people as to the appropriate boundaries concerning gun regulation, if left in place.
