First, the category of convicted felon includes:
(a) someone who stole something worth more than $500
(b) someone convicted of 3 or more DWI offenses
(c) someone who raped or murdered someone.
I sort of feel differently about the first two categories than the 3rd.
I do NOT think that a convicted felon who is serving time in a penitentiary or on parole should be able to vote.
Maybe there could be some sort of voting reinstatement process for those who have served their sentence.
Remember, voting affects local elections even more strongly than national elections.
What would Leavenworth City Council look like if felons were allowed to vote?
