The first team to accomplish this feat was the Toronto Maple Leafs in a game against the now defunct Atlanta Thrashers on 1/7/2011. The second time this happened was on 2/9/2018 in the third period by the New York Islanders. The Islanders were trailing the Detroit Red Wings 5–2 with 5:26 remaining when Tyler Bertuzzi of Detroit slashed Cal Clutterbuck of New York & Bertuzzi was assessed a match penalty (intent to injure opponent; ten penalty minutes assessed to offending player & player is ejected from the game. Team plays short handed for five minutes). The Islanders scored four goals during the power play, taking the lead 6–5. Mike Green of the Red Wings scored a short handed goal with 29 seconds remaining in the third period, tying the game at 6. The New York Islanders scored with 1:45 remaining in overtime to win the game 7–6.
