Him to head coach, they essentially allowed a 1 and done Beasley to make a head coaching hire for them. Other than Kim he is arguably the least qualified head coaching hire of the last 25 years at a major program. Then despite being an embarrassment on the bench in terms of antics, he actually succeeded. To the point where he had the foresight to know a terrible SEC program is better than being at an established Big 12 program, and left them.

They took a huge gamble on him, it actually worked, and then he preferred trying to rebuild S Carolina instead.
