saw the vashon vs hancock game last evening at Webster Groves High School.
- Vashon crushed them, so I am not sure how representative this one game I saw was
- no shot goes unchallenged; really hard to make layups against 6'7" guys of vashon; really hard to dribble agaihst them for that matter; Vashon presses all game and inbouding was never easy for Hancock
- Mckinney looked the part of a great athlete. He was not a major part of the offense except for passing from the middle against the zone. He did have a dunk on the break, so that was cool to see. He was open, but never shot a 3-pointer. Conversely, the other gaurds and forwards all shot 3's. He seems to have a solid build already versus Pinson, for example. However, he did not drive to the hoop either aginst the zone, that would have been interesting to see... oh well.
I have no idea who to compare him to. I think he will be a unique player. I do hope he develops a jump shot though, his stroke looks good, apparently the ball just does not go in enough yet...
- Fletcher was great. He hit 3's, blocked shots, dunked and just looked the part of a great player. Yeah, that would be cool if he picks Mizzou.
- One funny moment, mid-1st quarter, McKinney did a circus shot under the rim that was easily blocked. He probably should have passed it out and re-set the offense. Coach Irons subbed him and he sat on the bench the rest of the 1st Q. Maybe he was a bit less aggressive after that, but I like the fact that you do playground stuff, you "sit-next-me" coach.
