Roger Stone said that President Trump was not aware of any contact he had with WikiLeaks regarding the release of Democratic National Committee emails.
“Mr. Cohen's testimony is entirely untrue,” Stone told the Washington Examiner Wednesday while Cohen publicly testified before the House Oversight Committee.
“[Trump] was a presidential candidate who knew that Roger Stone was talking with Julian Assange about a WikiLeaks drop of DNC emails," Cohen said during his prepared opening statement Wednesday.
Cohen also said that Trump knew ahead of time that the Democratic emails were going to be released.
Stone was arrested last month in an early morning FBI raid of his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He was arrested on charges stemming from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation that Stone lied to Congress and engaged in witness tampering. A court filing last week revealed that Mueller's investigation had found communications between Stone and WikiLeaks. Stone has previously claimed he communicated with the group through a back channel.
Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson imposed a gag order that blocks Stone from making any public statements about the case after he posted a picture on Instagram of Jackson.
