From 1966 to 1968 MU lost 59 games. That was in an era when you could only play 3 years of varsity, although I don't believe any Tiger's career spanned all 3 of those seasons.

Jimmy Mckinney and Kevin Young were the first to approach that figure since they had 4 years of eligibility, both losing 58 games during their Tiger careers. It was Jason Horton and Marshall Brown that actually surpassed it, accumulating 61 losses as Tigers. Until this year no other Tigers had ever lost at least 55 games, with Terrance Phillips catching the fortunate break of being kicked off the team following his 54th career loss and the historic levels of turnover during the Kim Anderson era meaning no other Tigers stayed with the program long enough.

However this weekend Kevin Puryear suffered his 72nd loss in a Tiger uniform. There are at least 5 games with potentially a 6th loss opportunity remaining. Much like Chievous's career point totals, I suspect that is a record that will never again be approached.
