at work, like free food, pods to sleep, recreation, etc... some companies put kegs in and have brainstorming booths, ping pong, fooz ball

They want to own you. They want you to feel more comfortable there than they do at home, so they stay there longer.

At 5pm, you end up sticking around and having a beer, brainstorming with your co-workers, then you end up staying for dinner because they have an on-site chef, next thing you know you are working until 11pm.
