When the SEC invited us to join the conference they probably expected us to improve their basketball profile while our football team would be a patsy for their traditional football powers to beat up on every year.
Well neither of those things have happened so in order to "put us in our place" they worked with the NCAA to impose penalties which negatively impact our football program. The post season ban would allow our seniors to transfer (Kelly Bryant to Auburn and Tennessee could poach the remaining talent to help them improve quickly) and put us in a deep hole from which we wouldn't likely recover anytime soon.
If you think that this is crazy then tell me why our basketball team didn't face any penalties even though a basketball player was involved AND the program was on probation when Yolanda worked her magic.
Hell I'm starting to think that Jon Butler and his crew might've actually been planted here by the SEC powers.
Maybe it's time for us to make peace with our enemy in Lawrence and go ask the conference to our north to invite us as a package deal.
