unconventional & didn’t have our players doing all the Mickey Mouse BS. Unfortunately, he conducted himself as if he had the same level of success John Wooden had at UCLA. With every new blowup, I figured THIS will be his last one - he has to know he can’t continue acting this way. Then he’d go off & do something stupid. He was absolutely the most despised coach in the softball community & his peers outright hated him. He thought he was untouchable.
Brian Smith has had more success with his non-rev program and is wildly respected by his peers & everyone in the wrestling world. EE looked terrible in contrast. He had issues within the department & they covered for him for a long time.
While I don’t know everything, it’s well known that Mizzou did him a favor by not airing his dirty laundry (& they could have to selfishly get any heat off themselves). He was given far more chances to correct his issues & either chose not to or was incapable of such a change.
