for what makes a true PG. There are multiple types of point guards and they do not have to fit into the penetrate and pass mold that TB always wants a PG to fit into.
Now...
Dixon was more of a scorer who could handle the ball well enough to be a legit PG. He was not a big assist guy, he was a scorer. I won't even say shooter because he did not spot up shoot as much as I would define a shooter to do. He could just kinda score all over.
Pinson does not appear to be a big spot up shooter either and while he has shown an ability to score in various ways, I wouldn't label him as a scorer in the same way as Dixon. But, Pinson looks like he has better handles and clearly is going to be an assist guy.
One thing I would think about when considering their frosh stats is this....When Pinson is in the game, he is the PG. When Dixon was in the game as a frosh, he was off the ball probably as much as on point.
I'm not saying there aren't similarities and Dixon is probably the most accurate "recent" comparison at MU. Just noting that there are differences and some past guys are probably better comps.
