You're conflating the philosophical question "on what do we want to base our laws - why should something be illegal?" (which is where I agree with pickle, that they should be based on if someone's rights are infringed upon)

with

"how should we punish those who break our laws".


pickle and I diverge on the latter, but agree on the former.

We agree that a "crime" is when you infringe on someone's right to property, life, liberty.
