From 1971 to 1994 MU's avg conference finish in that period was 2.7. From 1971 to Norm's retirement in 1999 MU's avg conference finish was 3.2. Since that point MU's avg conference finish is 7.1. MU's avg conference finish since joining the SEC is 9.5. We are currently in 11th place this season.
MU went to the Elite Eight in the 2009 NCAA tournament. Outside of that tournament MU has a combined 1 single NCAA Tourney win since the 2003 NCAA tournament. Even earning a bid to participate appears to be a few year undertaking from this point.
MU was last ranked in the Jan 6th poll of 2014, at #21. That makes 265 weeks since we were last nationally ranked, or 1,855 days. From Dec 22, 2008 to Jan 20th, 2014 MU received votes every week in the national polls. That would be 265 weeks, or 1,856 days. Similarly, we appear to be several years away from reversing that trend.
For those who grew up watching MU basketball, those are factual statements that seem hard to fathom.
