that neither Obama nor Trump are the culprits. They, and the divisiveness we've seen lately, are symptoms, not the cause.
The internet and more specifically social media and lately media itself are the cause.
The media, in response to the internet making the 10 o'clock news basically useless for anyone who knows how to work a computer or the phone, as well as DVR's making broadcasting television shows less lucrative (we can tape everything besides sports and current events and watch at our convenience), has made politics ENTERTAINMENT.
Just like the bachelor shows where the two bachelorette's are programmed to be divisive and generate interest, the media has baked this in to our "POLITICAL ENTERTAINMENT" as well.
Obama and Trump just happened to be the presidents when/since all of this change has taken place.
