One thing that amuses me is liberals on the one hand

champion the USA's changing demographics because they assume they will have a governing majority going forward but on the other hand think politics will remain static - red team versus blue team with the deck stacked in their favor.
Change isn't linear. In 2016 we saw insurgent candidates in both parties. Large groups are not happy with the status quo in either party. Both are splintering. I strongly suspect we will see multiple parties in the years to come with coalitions forming, with sometimes surprising results.
That's until the whole thing bursts apart, of course.
