There is still no timetable for the return of Denver rookie Michael Porter Jr. and guard Isaiah Thomas, according to a report from The Athletic. Both players have yet to appear in a game this season.
“As much as I love our team now … we have a chance to be a special team when we get everybody healthy,” Denver coach Michael Malone said, via The Athletic. “Whenever that is.”
Porter is recovering from back surgery he underwent in mid-July. The forward, who was also hampered by back injuries while at Missouri last season, has participated recently in some noncontact parts of practice, Malone told reporters Wednesday.
“The guy has a pure jump shot,” Malone told The Athletic. “You forget how long he is. When we do ballhandling and finishing drills, you see his handle and ability to finish, and it’s impressive. When we do shooting drills and you see his stroke and how pure it is. It’s really encouraging.”
